Hello everybody! My name is
Angelina Akinkuoye but everybody calls me Angel. I am from Cleveland Ohio and I
attended and graduated from Shaker Heights High School about 3 years ago. I
have always been fascinated with the sport of basketball. I was so fascinated
that I decided to join the basketball team in high school and played all four
years. Truthfully, at first I wasn’t that good, but with hours of practice and
determination, I became a great defensive post player as well as one of the “starting
five”.
A
female athlete that I would’ve loved to see play in a competitive game, would
have to be Lisa Leslie. I looked up to Lisa Leslie when I was younger because I
believe she was a great basketball player. Lisa Leslie was a post player which
is the position I played. She showed outstanding offensive as well as defensive
skills on the court. She was also the first woman to ever dunk in a WNBA
basketball game. I think I would be a great experience to see her play in an
actual game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPuKZ2F5gTA
Lisa Leslie’s Dunk
A male athlete that I would love to see play in a competitive game
would have to be Dwight Howard. I also think he is an excellent post player. I always
adored the way he could easily make post moves look easy and effortless. I also
love his defensive skills and the way he blocked shots. I feel like Dwight
Howard and I have similar defensive techniques. :)
Lastly
I have no concerns about this class. I hope we get into some interesting
conversations and topics in this class. I also hope to learn as much as I can
while earning an “A” for this course.
Hi Angel,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you shared about your basketball background and why you like Lisa Leslie. I have a Sports Illustrated for Women Magazine with Lisa Leslie and Shaq on the cover. It seemed like Lisa Leslie became the face of the WNBA when she played. I can appreciate your liking Dwight Howard since he and you have "similar defensive techniques:-)" I hope you are/were a better foul shooter than he is.
I'm also familiar with Shaker Heights as I used to go there to take tennis lessons at the Cleveland Skating Club. They also held professional tennis matches at the Harold T. Clark Courts. I'm not sure if those courts are there anymore.
Anyway, good job on your Introduction and I look forward to reading your future entries.
