Hello Everybody! My name is Taylor Cook and I am a junior Exercise Science major here at BGSU. I am from Lima Ohio, which is about 45 minutes south of Bowling Green. I went to Lima Central Catholic High School where I played basketball, football, and ran track. Football is by far my favorite sport and is what I was the most talented at. I played running back and outside linebacker. In basketball I was a shooting guard and in track I ran the 100m dash and participated in the shot put and discus throw. My goal was to continue playing football in college and I made the team here at BGSU, but I felt that it was more important for me to focus on my schoolwork and just play intramural sports.
The female athlete that I would like to see compete in person would definitely be Maya Moore. She was an amazing basketball player at UCONN and one of the only times I watched women's college basketball she completely dominated Stanford in all aspects of the game. Even though she is undersized for a guard she doesn't let it stop her from being the best player on the floor at all times. She is now in the WNBA and is doing extremely well for herself there to. Eventually in my opinion, she will be one of the best women's basketball players ever. If you get the chance, check out the youtube clip below of Maya Moore completing one of the more athletic shots I have ever seen, male or female.

The male athlete that I would most like to see compete in person would definitely be Adrian Peterson. He is what I would consider a freak of nature and should be considered one of the greatest athletes of all time and he is not even 30 yet. The man tore his ACL and 9 months later is 9 yards away from breaking the NFL rushing record which has been around for more than 25 years. The reason I like him so much is because he runs with incredible force and he refuses to go down on the first hit. If you are going to tackle Adrian Peterson you better bring a couple teammates with you because he almost never goes down one on one. He is what I like to call a run finisher and if you get the chance watch the youtube clip below of him absolutely destroying William Gay from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I do not have any concerns with this class so far and I am very excited to see what it has in store for us as the semester goes on. I expect to learn a lot about the concept of sport and gender and am anxious to see how male and female professional athletes treat each other. I am also excited to continue posting blogs each week and relating to the topics that we discuss each class. I feel that this class is going to be very rewarding and an overall fun experience.
