Opinions About LeBron

LeBron James! A number of emotions occur when I hear his name or see him play. LeBron James is the player of all times right now, in this new year. He has great talent and is very good at what he does. He keeps the crowd’s eyes on him whenever he is on the court. It is very hard to not watch him play on the court and watch him dominate. He is a great player with extreme tremendous talent. You can’t help to think that he is the greatest player that ever played the game. But then, you think about how he left Cleveland and made the decision to go to South Beach and it makes you have some type of animosity towards him. Ever since the decision was made, I have not been a LeBron fan. Every time I seen him dominate the courts and play with extreme talent, I couldn’t help but “hate”. At first I didn’t want him to win the ring that he desperately wanted. After he finally won his ring, I somewhat have respect for him. Somewhat. I still am not a LeBron fan but I don’t really talk negative about him. I watch him whenever he plays and actually enjoy it. Although whenever The Heat is playing, I always cheer for the opposing team.
To debate whether LeBron James is better than Michael Jordan is a controversial topic. I feel as though Michael Jordan made the way for LeBron James.  Michael Jordan was the best during his time. Michael Jordan is a legend! Michael Jordan’s shoes still sell after years of him playing. I feel as though LeBron James is a great player now. He is one of the best players in this generation. His shoes sell, but not as much as Jordan’s do. I also think that if there wasn’t a Michael Jordan, then there wouldn’t be a LeBron James. Michael Jordan was one of the main people LeBron looked up to as a role model. Some people may have different opinions about this topic, but I firmly believe that LeBron James wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Michael Jordan.

  1. I have to agree that LeBron James is a phenomenal basketball player and the way he dominates the court on a daily basis is very mind-boggling. Until his decision to leave for Miami, I was really supportive and a huge fan of LeBron. Even though I am a Bulls fan, the way he went about publicizing his decision on national television is what really upset me. It has been because of this incident that I now have negative feelings towards LeBron. Just like when you said you rooted against the Heat and LeBron when they made that championship run, I too was hoping to see LeBron fail and never get that ring that he had been long hoping to win. Since he did end up winning the championship he has gained a little respect with me, however I still don’t particularly care for him and still root against the Heat most of the time. Finally, in my mind LeBron James will never be as good as Michael Jordan, but I do agree that if there Michael Jordan was never there, then LeBron James wouldn’t be around either.

  2. One of the things that makes LeBron's legacy so appealing is all of his comparisons to Michael Jordan. I fully agree that Jordan paved the way for LeBron James. Every era of basketball had its standout, great players and today's standout is LeBron. In the 90's, of course, it was Michael Jordan. One of the reasons why "The Decision" was so controversial was because of LeBron constantly being compared to Jordan. Jordan remained loyal and won six championships with the team that drafted him. LeBron was unable to win a championship with the team that drafted him so he chose to leave his original franchise and become labeled a traitor. After "The Decision," critics of LeBron claimed he could never be as good as Jordan because he had to team up with another superstar in order to win a championship. Before LeBron left Cleveland his whole legacy was being mirrored after Jordan. Once LeBron left, that particular comparison could no longer be made. However, there are many other ways in which LeBron is still to this day being compared to MJ.

  3. I am not sure as a Cleveland sports fan if it is possible for me to tackle this issue objectively. LeBron had the right to leave and that is understandable, but he embraced his role as the “savior of Cleveland sports.” When he said he was going to bring a championship to Cleveland, we expected him to get the job done, not choke in the playoffs and quit on his team after the 2010 season. For LeBron personally, losing in the NBA Finals to Dallas was perhaps the best thing that has ever happened to him because he finally “grew up” and became the true leader of a team that became deserving of winning a title. Like you Angel, I no longer associated “hate” and LeBron in the same sentence, but I have a wave of emotions when I think of LeBron.
